Queen Latifah Giveaway
One of my favorite curvy ladies is Queen Latifah. She is a multi-talented artist who has dipped her feet in music, acting, producing and writing. Her latest book, Put On Your Crown, is focused on improving the self-esteem of women. This month the Hatchette Book Group is the sponsor of the Five Favorite Things blog giveaway.

Modeled after Maria Shriver’s Just Who Will You Be, Queen Latifah’s goal with Put On Your Crown is to help young women build a strong sense of self-esteem. A US Dept. of Justice survey found that females ages 16-24 are more vulnerable to partner violence than any other group, almost triple the national average. Cases like Chris Brown’s assault on pop star Rihanna showed an ugly side of adolescent life. However, Queen Latifah has always been a shining example of a woman happy with herself and unwilling to compromise to fit into the “hollywood ideal” of what a confident beautiful woman should look like. The result: She’s one of the biggest A-list celebrities in Hollywood.

I LOVE QUEEN LATIFAH!
I think I first started to love her on The Fresh Prince, though. She was in an episode where Will really liked her but was embarrassed to admit it because she’s a big girl… And she was all “So what, you shallow dolt!” and it was really inspiring for me at the time, as a chubby kid 🙂
I’m following you on Twitter! (@AshesVonDust)

I grew up on listening to Queen Latifah, and I love her Ladie’s first song, along with my favorite movies which are The Bone Collector, Set It Off, Beauty Shop and the Cookout , just to name a few.
I grew up as well listening to Queen Latifah music. One of my most favorite songs of hers is Unity because it show female female empowerment and that we as women have the right to have are own feelings by not being taken for granted.
My favorite movie is hard to choose between set it off and hairspray but i would have to be the secret life of bees. This movie was a truly phenomenal and very touching. It also shows the range in her acting ability.
