Early Fall Preview

News of Igigi’s Intro to Fall collection was released this week. You already know I am a big fan in general but I do not like everything. Just like I do not like everything that other designers put out. That’s why I feature “my favorite things”.
There is something about this collection that is different than most. I do not find it as “fancy”, for lack of a better word. And I do not mean that in a bad way. I think the new collection will make it more accessible to women who may not have been interested in it before because it was too fancy. We are not all so fancy all the time anyway, heck some of us choose not to be fancy at all if we can help it.
Overall I think the collection is a little more casual than what we have seen in the past even the evening wear. They are continuing with two-tone prints, color/print blocking, delicate overlay, removable wrap belts, and coordinating separates; all things we can get behind, no? Here are a few of my favorites from the collection:
The first four images are from the promotional campaign and features plus size model Georgia Pratt (photographed by Mark de Paola who I believe also did the video short “16” featuring Fluvia Lacerda for Igigi). I did a quick search and as of this post these are not available on the site yet but will be soon.
I love the sheen of this first dress as well as the slight ruching in the skirt to help bring out the golden highlights. But mostly I like how the Nezetta Cocktail Dress is not all about showing skin with its longer sleeves and high neckline. It is a nice change.

With the next dress we see Yuliya Raquel’s signature neckline. I love the unusual color of the Amaryllis Evening Dress and the slight contrast of the flowers. This dress has something going on from neck to hem which makes it interesting to look at. I hope the back is equally as nice.

The Lyssa Dress is probably one of my fave of favorites. I love giraffe print and it is even better with the rich color they have chosen to make it pop. Love the color block cuffs and skirt. And the matching necklace! Igigi are known for their wrap dresses and I think this one will definitely be a winner.

Speaking of wrap dresses. The Margarita Wrap Dress has a great zig-zag (or chevron if you prefer) print in blue tones. I think this is going to be another sell out quick number. Love the pattern, love the color, love the matching necklace (Jewelry is sold separately. Do I need to say that?).

The next few images come from the Look Book Catalog and this is where you see the less fancy look I mentioned. It’s all in the details — what you choose to coordinate with, accessories, hair, lighting. I found all three of these dresses online already.
When I see the Elisha dress I think pretty and feminine. I love the petite floral print and flowy short sleeves that are still hopeful of warm weather. It is a sweet looking every day dress.

Dots! Need I say more about the Kinsley dress? Sorry, I never tire of them.

The Sandra dress is understated even though it has an allover print thanks to the back to basics black and white coloring. Black and white always looks sharp. Another lovely day dress.

And that brings me to the co-ordinating separates. I love the MWA Top in azalea (also available in black) with an obi belt that perfectly matches the azalea Penelope Skirt (available in green too). Every day pieces that can be worn together or matched to your wardrobe.
Two piece separate from Igigi consists of the Azalea top with matching skirt.
Igigi is off to a good start with their Intro to Fall and as always I look forward to seeing what is up next. I can only imagine how spectacular the options will be as we get closer to winter and the holidays.

I thought they would have died out last season but one shouldered tops are still holding their own this season. You can find some nice examples at a few of the hottest shops. I especially like the Kiyoshi Tunic ($78) from Igigi that is actually a convertible top, so if it gets chilly you can…
