Plus Size Scuba Diving
Along with cruising comes the opportunity to scuba diving in unique places. Don’t let the fact that you are plus size hold you back. There are a few places to get a swimsuit aquatard for plus size women who would like to try scuba driving.
Junonia
Firstly, and my favorite, is Junonia QuikEnergy V-neck Aquatard in sizes XL to 6x for $110. It might seem expensive but it has lots of important features. For instance, “Quick-drying, moisture-wicking QuikEnergy™ reduces cramps with excellent muscle compression, and 50+ UPF sun protection”.
Swimsuits for All
Secondly, a more economical version comes from Swimsuits for All. This black Chlorine Resistant Aquashape Aquatard is available in sizes 8 to 22 for $44. It has shape retention and UV protection (50+).
Harvey’s
And thirdly, for those who want to get serious about diving, then you should look into getting a heavy duty wetsuit from a company like Harvey’s. They offer cold water full styles up to size 2x (with custom up to 4x) and warm water short styles up to 4x. Depending on the style you could be spending anywhere from $150 to $500. (Update 09/24: Unfortunately for us, Harvey has retired. If you have a custom suit recommendation for over 150 lbs let us know.)
Amazon
This is a bonus recommendation from a plus size reader who scuba dives. If you have a scuba gear store in your area, you can check them to see if they carry the Henderson brand. They have wetsuits made with Thermoprene in plus sizes 16 to 24. Additionally, you can find them on Amazon for $140 to $200 depending on size. Be sure to read descriptions and individual reviews carefully.
