Plus Size Maxi Skirts

After a year of maxi dresses (which are still going strong into spring an summer) it seems like the natural progression to have maxi skirts. And it looks like we will be seeing lots of them. I can see this being an valuable piece for the plus size woman’s wardrobe that can be dressed up or down depending on the top, shoes and accessories.
The Border Print Maxi Skirt is available from Simply Be in sizes 10 to 28 for $65. It is machine washable and right on trend both with length and floral pattern. I’ve paired it with a bright tie blouse and studded glads but it could easily be paired with a lacy blouse and flats.

The Print Maxi Skirt is also from Simply Be in sizes 10 to 28 for $57. And machine washable (love that). The black camisole and Viva La Diva sandals finish it off. The cami can be worn as is or layered under a tank or denim shirt.

The Everyday Maxi Skirt from Swak Designs is available in sizes 1x to 6x for $39 and is the perfect casual skirt. Great for traveling. It’s paired with Swak’s cami and cardigan wrap (more great traveling pieces) but would look great with a belted tee, tunic or mens shirt.

The Crepe de Chine Maxi Skirt is available from Roamans in sizes 12 to 32 for $50 and despite its dressy appearance is machine washable. It’s paired with the cambric tunic and tipper sandals from Roamans.

And finally, my absolute favorite from the bunch, the Denim Illusion-Print Maxi Skirt from Roamans for $80. You must check out their video to see this skirt in motion. Love it! It’s paired with a lace shirt, sling sandals and bracelet from Roamans. This skirt would look great with a denim shirt, cami and flats too. Or maybe some short western boots.

    Casual Comfort

During the cold blustering days of winter I like the simple draw of casual comfort. Torrid offers it along with affordability. • The Short Substitute

I am not a “shorts” person. Never have been. It probably has something to do with the pantie shorts I was forced to wear in gym class in high-school (back when gym was a requirement for graduations). I do however love capri pants, short pants, crop pants, whatever you want to call them. And being…

  • Thigh High Boots

Thigh high boots seem to be the order for this season. High (up the leg, not the heel) and suede. Unfortunately finding a thigh high boot for plus size women need, is incredibly difficult. 1. I was so against dresses for the longest time because of a thigh rub issue so I got spanx and it was fabulous, I’m iin love with dresses now! I”m going to check out the Luvees because the spanx aren’t always comfortable ya know?

  2. Stephanie’s comment is so important. Chafing is the reason plus size women, especially those of us who have big thighs, stay away from dresses and skirts. As Stephanie advises…it doesn’t have to be that way!

  3. Babe,
Definitely check out the Luvees mentioned above. Especially the thigh ones. They make wearing skirts enjoyable again.
