How to Build a Snowman
Not just any snowman, how-to build an awesome snowman. I came around the loop to my house yesterday and a snowman the neighbor kids had built next to the road scared the bejesus out of me. I slowed down for a closer look and decided the gargantuan snowman was full of all kinds of awesomeness and hey wouldn’t that make a great lens.
Which led to today’s topic suggestion which I think would be especially good if you have the kids to help. Create a lens with step by step instructions on how to build a snowman. Be sure to include lots of photographs of each step. The gallery module would be great for dividing the images up into catgories: bottom, middle, top, decorating etc.
Other modules to include:
- Text list with reasons to make a snowman: good exercise, fun, your spirit will thank you, something to do outdoors, annoys the neighbors etc.
- Text list of household items needed to make a basic snowman (button eyes, carrots) and an extended list to make him look his best (scarf, mitts, broom, hat)
- Poll: do you make a snow man every winter?
- Black box on the best kind of snow to watch for.
- Include blooper photos at the end after the guestbook as an added surprise (you can mention them in the guestbook). Or you can create a page break and put a whole bunch of blooper and snow fun pictures from the day.
I think this would be a cool theme for a bunch of lensmasters to join in on too. They could compete for the best snowman and everyone could include a featured lens section for other snowman building lenses.
