Waterproof Lip Liner Review & Giveaway

I am not the kind of person who must have a full face of make up before I leave the house but one of my necessities is lip color. BH Cosmetics sent me four of their Waterproof Lip Liner shades: Blossom, Earth, Rouge, and Retro to review. Their “fantastically fun” lip liners retail for $2.95 at BH Cosmetics online shop and come in nine shades.

To me a true test of a cosmetic is to apply it without any other underlying products like concealers and primers. It gives you a truer sense of what a product can do on its own. I have worn the Blossom for the last few days and am currently wearing the Retro.

Both lip liners have a what I call a medium hardness — I do not have to press hard to apply and it is not mushy. The first lip liner application was uneven with visible pencil lines but on the second use the pencil seemed softer and provided better coverage.
I prefer to use lip liners for all over color rather than the traditional lip liner. Often I will wear lip liners as is or with a dab of gloss. The BH Waterproof Lip Liners look great this way. Unfortunately with the gloss overlay they they tend to come off fast on the fuller parts of the lips with drinking (cup pressure) and eating and retouching after a few hours is a definite must. But without gloss I got about four hours of wear before I felt I needed a little center lip touch-up with the pencil or lipstick. During the kiss test I noticed obvious transference (lip marks on cheeks) but I still had plenty of leftover color coverage. As you can see here I still have plenty of coverage. And the shade is not as bright as above when taken with a different camera.

I did not find them any longer lasting than my regular lip liners. I could wipe most of the liner off with a tissue except for the outer lip edges which required an additional touch of make up remover to clear it away.
