The Snood

The snood or tubular neck scarf or cowl neck collar or infinity scarf if you prefer. Simply, it is a scarf that has no ends. Personally, I like the word snood. There is something very snoody about it.

How to Wear It

It is a fun name for a scarf that can be worn double our triple wrapped around your neck for super warmth. Or draped over the back and sides of your head like a hood. Or even worn loose like a cowl neck to give an otherwise shapeless top some form. There are so many “or’s” when it comes to how to wear a snood.

The snood seems to live a quiet existence among celebrities and models but it is gaining ground amongst us lowly fashion folk. Personally, I love them both as a winter warmer and as an accessory.

Hard to Find in Larger Sizes

The problem is, they are damn hard to find for plus size women in plus size women shops. I went to eight different online stores and there was not a snood to be found! I finally found a Ruffle Infinity Scarf at Jessica London for $16.99 in black, lavender or Ivory.

If you want more of a color or style selection to choose from there is Scarfology which has a lightweight infinity scarves in at least eight colors and Anytime Scarf which has a cable infinity scarf in twelve colors. I suspect though that they are limited in length (not a problem if that is what you want).

Get Knitting

Time to get out those knitting needles and pick a snood project. There are some great patterns on Amazon. And here is some free pattern inspiration!

Another alternative, assuming you do not knit, is to find a friend or relative who knits (or crochets). Them ask them, really nice, if they will knit one in your yarn of choice as big or as small as you need.

There’s Always Etsy

If you don’t want to wait, check out the huge assortment of infinity scarves / snoods on Etsy (do a search for either “snoods” or “infinity scarf” to see the varied results). Like these fabulous ones:
