Continue On Saturdays Writing Prompt

The gist of it is simple. I give you the start of a line/story and you continue on. This week:

The bats flew out of the cave. We ducked and covered our heads out of reflex. Michelle squeeled louder than necessary and after the bats had completely vacated Norman jazzed her about it, imitating her quite successfully. We all laughed in unison. “Ok, let’s do this.” Mike said as he turned back to the cave and disappeared into the darkness. We lit our flashlights and followed him in single file like we did in grade school. Norm, Michele, and myself taking up the rear. After twenty minutes my eyes had adjusted to the flashlight lighting and dark surroundings so I shut off my light. “Why’d you do that?” Michelle asked. “To preserve our light in case something happens,” I responded.
