Color Watch

I’m patiently waiting for the real spring to begin. It’s warmer but with that comes a muddy back yard. As flattering as the mud stains on my pant legs are, I’m so over that. I’m so over having to give the dog a bowl-bath every time she goes out too. Luckily in another week or so the winds will move in and dry everything up paving the way for the real spring to begin. The spring I love, full of flower buds, light jackets, bright tops and flats.
Here are a few of the spring/summer hot colors I’m going to love looking for:

Spring Color Swatches

Butter Yellow – Not just accents either, full body tops and dresses. Unfortunately I can’t wear yellow next to my skin because it totally washes out my complexion no matter what kind of makeup I have on. Thank goodness scarves are still in because a strategically placed blue scarf will separate my face from the yellow and make my eyes pop. Never let anyone say you can’t wear a color you love because of your complexion. Simply combine it with a color that does.
Burnt Red (or Rust if you prefer) – I love this color which reminds me of the whole southwest feel. Makes me want to slip on espadrilles and a wide brim hat.
Deep Navy – The other classic black makes a lovely suit and basic dress color alternative. Mixed with white or red it helps lend to the nautical trend which never seems to die.
Sky Blue – You can’t go too bright when it comes to blue but sky blue is my favorite for this season. It rocks with the navy and white and the butter yellow I mentioned above.
Bright Orange (or Persimmon) – This color was just starting to gain momentum in the fall but this spring it looks like it will be even hotter. It is a fabulous color to be in the sun with. Time to get out the boho sandals!
Honeysuckle Pink – Growing up I hated pink and did everything I could to get away from it. As I mature so has my acceptance that pink is now and will forever be a hot color. I really like this deep pink which isn’t over the top bright and will look fabulous with some of this seasons other colors; like navy for instance. Love pink and navy.
White – Not just your occasional t-shirt or blouse either. White dresses and suits will be coming back in full force this spring and summer. I love a lacy white cotton dress with a bright cardigan — white is another color that washes me out — and can’t wait to see what is offered.
Happy (soon-to-be) spring!

Riding along the military theme this week. I fell in love with this military inspired dress at eShakti. It is very military on top with it’s double breasted buttons and then very retro a-line on the bottom. I think the best looks would be hose and flat or tights and booties or vice versa. And…
