The Fatgirl's Closet

The Fatgirl's Closet

I have been a Squidoo lens builder for over four years. If you are not familiar with Squidoo, in a nutshell, it is a page building platform that allows people to share short bursts of information about their favorite topics on pretty pages. As you have probably figured out, my main niche is “plus size” related but I do delve into other topics of interest.

A few years back Squidoo started a few clubs and put a few key people in the lead, “The Fatgirl’s Closet” was one of them. Its main purpose was to highlight plus size fashion bloggers. Recently Squidoo closed down the club portions of its website, as happens when a website’s concept is constantly evolving. This left me with a lens (page) I had created to highlight and explain the club.

It was a reasonable traffic producing lens so I did not just want to delete it but the content within it was no longer relevant to visitors. This left me with the task of creating new content on a similar topic– The Fatgirl’s Closet was initially supposed to be a metaphor for the plus size bloggers who dished on clothes. I thought it would be wonderful if it became more literal and actually was about fatgirls and their closets.

I went to my Twitter peeps and enlisted ten women who I thought would make interesting additions and asked them how they would feel about the world peering into their clothing storage spaces. Everyone was incredibly positive about the idea! I asked everyone to take some pictures of their closets (storage space) for all of us to see and then I gave them a quick Q & A to answer. In introduce to you, the new Fatgirl’s Closet. Enjoy getting to know these lovely women.
