Christmas Party Fashion

What’s hot and what’s not…

The Christmas party season is upon us and with only one shopping weekend until Christmas day (which means even less until the Christmas party) it is time to hit the shops for that perfect party outfit. There is a certain standard to uphold in the Christmas party outfit stakes, it must be glamorous and have a certain sparkle to it. You can afford to be a little more outrageous at this time of year and there is no such thing as being overdressed!

It Is Time to Hit the Shops

Now you have convinced yourself that the party season is close enough to warrant some serious shopping do you find yourself disappointed when every outfit you find that you love seems to only be available in the minute sizes 6 to 8? It is the same when it comes to the shoe sale where those heels you have just got to have are only available in three sizes smaller or four sizes bigger. There is no point trying to squeeze into a smaller size when you are going to be enjoying plenty of festive treats so look for one of those perfect evening dresses in sizes 14 to 32 this winter.

Choosing the Right Shoes

Shoes are an important accessory to any outfit but never more so than to the Christmas party outfit. You need to balance the right mixture of style and comfort as you do not want to be the one being carried home by your work colleagues at the end of the night because your beautiful yet dangerous five inch heels have left you crippled. Neither do you want to be the wet blanket who cano not (or will not) get up and have a dance because their new shoes leave them looking more like a strictly come dancing knock out than having ‘the moves like Jagger’.

Sparkle and Shine

It is the season to sparkle and shine! Each year the diamante and glitter make an appearance in some form or another and this Christmas they are bigger and better than ever. Gorgeous embellishments are cropping up on shirts and dresses all over the catwalk and the high-street is taking note of incorporating shine into its fabrics with a fantastic range of Jacquard material.
Once you have got your perfect outfit ready the last thing to do is start enjoying the festive season so start filling the calendar with wonderful winter parties now!

I absolutely love the latest retro glam look from Anna Scholz. When I first saw the Print Crepe Border Wrap Dress I thought it was an animal print but on close inspection (as you can see from insert) it is a series of different size Oo’s. I love the neutral color, flattering neckline and just…

  • Holiday Red Dresses

When I think of holiday dresses my first “go to” color is red (hopefully with a little sparkle). But with so many other colors to choose from for the holidays it seems like red is getting harder to find. Many people are opting for silver, gold, sequin, purple, green and of course the always reliable…

  • Awaken to Igigi

IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel’s Spring Awakening Collection are full of the inspirations of love and romance. You can expect to find vivid prints, girly accents, lace, and asymmetric draping. The beautiful model you see adorned with these luscious fabrics is Kailee O’Sullivan. Two of my favorite dresses from the collection are: The Plus Size Philis…

  • A Spotted Cowbird

I absolutely love dots. Big dots and little dots like the one decorating the “cowbird” dress from Carmakoma. It is a bit pricey at $124 but it is so cute. Love it with or without the leggings and with or without the obi belt. I would like to see it opened a little more, white…

    ASOS Fall Picks

Of all the online shops ASOS Curve always excites me the most when they get new product in. I am always tinkled in anticipation of what they are going to have. Mostly because the pieces are so hard to find anywhere else. Of course many of the pieces are on trend with color, style and/or…

  • Skater Dresses

I have been seeing the term “skater dress” around more often lately. It is a style I have never heard of before this summer but I am assuming it has to do with the ice skater competition dresses except in our case a bit longer and larger in size. They tend to be more figure…
