Beyond Plus Size Belly Dancing

My friend Lana got into belly dancing about two years ago. The group she dances with comes in all shapes and sizes. One of her heartaches has been not being able to find lovely plus size costumes to perform in.
Today I forwarded her a link to Theora’s Bellydance Boutique. This online shop offers tribal, ethnic, gypsy, folklore, and cabaret dance costumes created from hand-dyed silk and cotton. They have lots of pretty things for dancing but I also found this usual piece called Ghawazee Dress; for about $30. It could pass as a edgy tunic and I think it would look awesome with a white or black cami, a great push up bra and pair of jeans.

    Oversized Tunic

Love it! The KYOTO TUNIC and capri leggings (full length too) that is. All they need are some flats. The tunic would look equally sweet with skinny black jeans (Calvin Klein, $45), suede boots (Torrid, $68), and cinched at the waist with an obi belt (Etsy, $38). If you love it too you can find…

It is amazing what a splash of color can do for black. The accent on this dress from plus size clothing retailer Zaftique pops. It is also a great summer color (the purple). It is still incredibly hot and humid here so this is going to be as dressy as I get this week. The…
