Short Boots from Frye

I never liked short bootsย  until last year when I needed a low heeled boot and all the ones I found were short. I wore them like crazy until I had to replace them this season with a slightly taller but still in essence short boot. Although I think the new ones are sexier. To give you an idea what the old onesย  looked like, my husband used to call them my McCoy boots (as in the original Star Trek). It’s so true. One of the good things about short boots for plus size women is that it takes less of the worry out of calf size that comes with a tall boot. Anyway, I’m finding my love of short boots keeps growing. Some of my favorite ones can be found at the Frye Company. As you can see there is a pretty consistent theme I like; western, military, work and motorcycle.

  5. Paige Loop Lug, $298
  6. Sabrina 6G Lace Up*, $248

  • Chunky Sandals

I am in love with these chunky sandals from Dr Martens. They have the classic heftiness of their boots but are definitely all sandal. I even love the name — Clarissa. They have a chrome gladiator feel in my opinion even though they are listed as “pewter”. But they have a little more sole than…

  • Criss Cross Sandals

Gladiator sandals were all the rave amongst celebrities last year and I was totally right along with them for the most part. This year the Glad Sand has been updated to be less extreme. • Casual Bootie

Booties are the hot retro item in shoes to have this fall. But some looks are a little too retro for me. Not this Blowfish “Willis” Bootie available from Macy’s. It takes the retro look of the bootie mixes it with cowboy charm, less the pointed toe, and made it into a universal casual boot…

I’ve been an Amazing Race fan since it’s first season (patiently waiting for 17) and you rarely hear much about any of the participants going on and doing something productive. The one that stands out the most is Blake Mycoskie, the founder of TOMS Shoes, who appeared in the second season with his sister Paige…

  1. I love a lower-heeled boot. Saves on the back pain and great for those of us with foot and knee issues. Glad to see they are in right now.
