Barefoot Tess Classic Flats Review

Barefoot Tess specializes in women’s shoes in sizes 10 to 15. The recently sent me a pair of their signature Tess Classic Flats for my big feet to review. But it turns out my big feet were not as big as I thought and I had to enlist the help of Karen S. tender tootsies.

This pair of flats is one of the most versatile pair of shoes in my closet. I literally can wear them with shorts, capris, dresses, pants and anything in between. Since I am 5′ 10″ I often wear flats but shy away from them when I want to dress up because they feel too casual. The Tess Classic Flats are an exception however because of their very pretty silver/pewter crackled finish. They have a very fresh look and really set off the silver accents of jewelry with any colored outfit.

The lines of the shoe are very simple and taper around the edge of my foot providing a nice contour which is flattering and at the same time, they hug the side of my foot. I really like the fine details of craftsmanship which convinces me that the designers were very serious about prioritizing both style and comfort. The heel, for example, comes up a full 2½ inches and has stitched gathers to bring it in snugly so that the shoe stays in place with each step. This is a subtle detail that is more obvious when you look at the inside of the shoe. The cut of the shoe falls away slightly to scoop around the toes just where the bone structure needs it; higher on the inside near the big toe and lower below the little toe. The leather construction, upper and sole, look and feel great! The light padding makes them comfortable to wear for a full day and I know just what to expect with stretching and shrinking based on what elements I expose them to this summer.

I tend to be hard on footwear and tire of shoes quickly but I seem to be getting more attached to these flats as the summer moves along. I know that when I go to New York City in a few days to shop and take in some shows I will take these versatile, pretty shoes with me.

Thank you Karen!
The Barefoot Tess classic flats are leather and come in six colors: gunmetal (above), asparagus, black, black patent, smoke patent, chocolate patent, and snapdragon. They are only available in sizes 10 to 15 and retail for $169.
The Barefoot Tess website carries an excellent variety of styles including bridal, couture, sneakers, wedges, rain, and even flip-flops. Once again, this is a big foot women’s shop, so only sizes 10 to 15.

  1. that is such great news. My best friend wears a size 10, an is limited to where she can buy fashionable shoes, so new outlets are are welcome relief to her. Thank you for posting this

  2. A good looking shoe in larger sizes is hard to find and finding one that is comfortable is sometimes even harder. Considering the amount of wear you will get from these shoes I think the price is just right.
